Sonali Bendre is also a lover of traditional weaves,
apart from being a maharashtrian, and was recently
declared a pioneerof re-enactmentof Paithani sarees.
Paithani utilizes an old tapestry method to weave a
intriguing piece of silk together with various threads of
distinct colors, together with gold and silvery threads.
It's made of natural silk or cotton and precious metal
and gold threads that give Paithani a touch of Midas.
Since the skill is a form of dead art in the land, the
author turned to a former actress goes out of her way to
promote the works of the weavers and talks to several
sponsors and organizers to organize an exhibition
showcasing their collections.
A source says, "Sonali wanted to conduct a special
exhibition to give these weavers from remote corners an
opportunity to talk, present and sell their work. She
talks to a couple of organizers and sponsors who join the
project and is eager to take part in the presentation to
regenerate this dying art."
