Heavyweight Bout (Main Event) – Francis Ngannou vs Junior dos Santos

Francis Ngannou

Ngannou is considered one of the most powerful punchers in the history of  UFC. The Cameroonian-born “Predator” has demolished seven opponents in the UFC by knockout and is coming off a stunning 26-second victory against former champion Cain Velasquez in February this year. The Predator has worked his way into title contention by winning seven fights in a row under the UFC banner and a win this weekend will see him as a challenger for the belt in his next fight. During his career with the UFC, Ngannou has picked up first-round knockout wins over UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and Alistair Overeem in the past. Every opponent including Junior dos Santos should know that Francis’s one shot is enough to put them to sleep.

Junior Dos Santos:

Junior Dos Santos is one of the most technically proficient boxers to ever step inside the Octagon and is coming into this bout on a back off a three-fight win streak including consecutive wins over Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis at UFC Fight Night 142 and UFC Fight Night 146 respectively. The “Cigano” has alternated wins and losses in his past nine UFC fights but dominant performances in his last two fights have helped him climb to the No.3 spot in the official rankings of the UFC roster. The Brazilian’s combination of range and boxing options has helped him land 12 knockdowns in the UFC Heavyweight division so far. This weekend,  “Cigano” will aspire to reclaim another shot at the heavyweight title but to get there, the Brazilian will have to go through the most powerful puncher in UFC.

Flyweight Bout (Co-Main Event) – Jussier Formiga vs Joseph Benavidez

After six years, history will repeat itself this weekend when Jussier Formiga steps into the Octagon to take revenge for the loss he suffered in 2013 against Joseph Benavidez. That fight made Joseph Benavidez the No. 1 contender in the flyweight division but failed to capitalize on that momentum. Since then he has been constantly ranked as one of the best fighters in the world at 125 pounds and is coming into this fight on a back of 8 wins out of 9 fights including a win against the current double champion Henry Cejudo.

On the other hand, Jussier Forminga was last defeated by Joseph in 2013 and has undergone a great transformation in terms of physique and technique. The Brazilian has recorded four straight wins, including an impressive outing against a previously undefeated contender, Deiveson Figueiredo. With both competitors amassing impressive overall records in the division, this surely feels like the No.1 contender fight.
