Rahul Dev Burman better recognized as R.D. Burman or Pancham Da, was known for introducing an upbeat, Western music that defined much of the music of the 1970's. He was one of the few music directors of the Indian film industry who composed music for over 300 movies.Zee Classic, India’s only classic Hindi movie channel is known to celebrate the life and work of such evergreen artists and entertain its viewers.With its core proposition ‘Woh Zamaana Kare Deewana’, the channel is all set to take the audience back to the golden era of Pancham Da with the telecast of a musical tribute ‘RD Night’ on Thursday,27thJune,2019 at 7PM.
The musical maestro not only created and composed music but also believed in experimenting with sounds. From rubbing sand paper, knocking bamboo sticks together, blowing into the beer bottles, tinkling on the cups and saucers to even making the singer Annette Pinto gargle to produce a background score, R.D. Burman did it all. On the occasion of his birth anniversary, the music fraternity comes together to commemorate the unconventional legend & celebrate the life’s work of a man who irrevocably changed the world of music with his chart-topping compositions.
As a tribute to Pancham Da, the RD Night hosted by Sumeet Raghavan, showcases Babul Supriyo, Sudesh Bhosle with his son Siddhanta Bhosle, Javed Ali, Jaspinder Narula, Madhushree and Anvesha Dutta Gupta set ablaze the stage with some sensational performances. The concert is a one a kind musical, as the entire life journey of Pancham Da will be showcased through interesting audio-visuals, songs, anecdotes shared by industry stalwarts like Bappi Lahiri and Sachin Pilgaonkar. RD Night brings together PanchamDa’s original troupewhowere the creators of chartbusters like Mere SaamneWaaliKhidki from Padosan, Chingari Koi Bhadkefrom Amar Prem, Jaane-Jaan from Sanam Teri Kasam, to pay a tribute to the music maestro. The troupe will take to stage and play the musical instruments resoreso and mandal.
