IMDb releases exclusive trailer with commentary from the director of ‘Panipat’, Ashutosh Gowariker
The award winning India film director, actor, screenwriter and producer Ashutosh Gowariker, who has made his mark in the Bollywood industry by giving hits like Lagaan, Swades and Jodhaa Akbar is set to release his yet another directorial film ‘Panipat’, based on the third battle of Panipat. The movie that showcases the battle that took place between the Marathas and the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali in 1761, stars Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles. IMDb has released a trailer for the movie with exclusive commentary from the director himself.
Through this trailer, director Ashutosh Gowariker takes the audience behind the scenes where he speaks about the story, the cast and the cinematography of the film. Known for directing period dramas like Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar and Mohenjo Daro, Ashutosh speaks about the difficulties he faced while directing Panipat such as how shooting the battle was a huge cinematic challenge.
Sharing about the characters in the film, Ashutosh said “Right from the scripting phase, I knew the actors I wanted in each role – Sanjay Dutt as Abdali, Arjun Kapoor as Sadashivrao and Kriti Sanon as Parvatibai and all of them have supported the film relentlessly. Arjun as Sadashivrao shaved off his head and remained bald for six months. All this contributed to the authenticity of the film.”
